At SwimEx, we are very proud of producing a “Made in the USA” high quality pool. Although we are confident that our custom swim spas are consistently ranked the best for overall quality, independent customer reviews are a great way to ensure that our pools are better than our competitors.

On the popular website SwimSpaforum.com, we recently came across a discussion about SwimEx.

Here’s an excerpt from the online review by user gjackson134, who compared the difference he experienced with Michael Phelps Swim Spa vs.Endless Pools vs. SwimEx:

“I agree with David, these are three good companies with good products. Each company makes a high quality product and each stands behind their product. However, these companies and their swim spas are very different.

Here’s one way to think about the differences.Robert Lauter, CEO of Master Spas (Michael Phelps Swim Spa), studied political science in college. He has been working in the hot tub industry since 1979.

Under his leadership, Master Spa purchased the technology from Exerswim which they branded as H2X, then later rebranded as Michael Phelps.Everett Pearson and his son, Mark Pearson, of SwimEx are both engineers. They have a number of businesses that rely on engineering solutions to use composite materials for residential and commercial customers.

They created SwimEx (which combines their knowledge of fiberglass with a unique swim current design) to serve the swimming and rehabilitation markets (with a focus on commercial customers, i.e. sports teams, pt centers, hospitals).James Murdock, the president of Endless Pools studied engineering in college. He created Endless Pools to sell his modular swim spa to residential customers for swimming and fitness.Taken another way:

- Master Spa has celebrity endorsements and trademarked features (swim number system, Wave Propulsion™ Technology, Xtreme Therapy Seat). Their swim spas have all the bells and whistles and look great out of the box.
- SwimEx was engineered for swimming and therapy. They have a novel construction and a unique current.
- Endless Pools was also designed for swimming and therapy. They focus on the quality of the swim current. They have one and two propeller models with different configurations and different current smoothing systems. So for the bottom line, I have swum in a SwimEx. It has a great current that spans the width of the pool. And because the inlet it on the opposite site as the outlet, the current flows in only one direction. My advice, try it out for yourself.”

We agree with most of the points that gjackson134 made in this post regarding the SwimEx product. He does point out that Mark and Everett do rely on engineering solutions, which is true. But like many great innovative inventors, do not actually hold academic degrees in engineering as the author suggests.

Their hands-on training approach to crafting state-of-the-art fiberglass products is what make this father-and-son team truly unique. Many call Everett a ”pioneer” in the composites industry. He was also the recipient of the 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Composites Fabricators Association . Meanwhile, Mark has guided the SwimEx company to a position of leadership as well as providing composite pilings for the marine construction industry and commercial building industry.

One of our most common questions from customers, “how do you install a SwimEx pool?” To help answer this question, we posted a bunch of videos on our website that show how the process is done. Here’s an example of a commercial installation from start to finish:

COMMERCIAL INSTALLATION

Our team of qualified field technicians work with our clients’ contractors with space layouts, CAD drawings and all those little details. We call it “hassle-free installation.” Our pools can be installed indoors, outdoors, above ground, in-ground, or partially in-ground. We can also move the pool to its exact location. It can be easily shipped all assembled and put in place with a crane. Then you just need to make the plumbing and electrical connections. The pool is pre-plumbed so you are making simple pvc connections to the filtration equipment. You need a drain or sump pump to drain the pool and a source of water to fill the pool. Pools require 85 AMP service (105 Amps is if they choose the 7.5 HP option).

This video shows how we can use a crane to install a pool:

RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATION

Most SwimEx pools require 200-240 sq. ft. (18.6 – 22.3 sq. m.) of space (1000 S requires 450 sq. ft. or 418 sq. m.), and a pit or flat-level concrete slab. The standard pit area is 12′ x 20′ (3.66 m x 6.1 m) (18′ x 25′ [5.49 m x 7.62 m] for the 1000 S) including a drain or sump pump. On average, the electrical service needed is 105 Amps, 208-240V single-phase (for installations outside North America contact SwimEx for electrical requirements). Your pool also arrives pre-plumbed needing only simple PVC connections.

If a customer does not have open access to take the pool in one piece, it can be assembled on site by their contractor following our manual or by our partner installation company.

Check out our phases of installation page for more details.

Imagine a consistent wall of water as wide as the pool and up to 30″ deep. SwimEx offers the deepest and widest current flow on the market.

Finally – it’s about the flow: the current in a SwimEx pool has 99 speed settings and moves up to 30,000 gallons per minute in a smooth river-like current. Endless pools move up to 5,000 gallons per minute.
