In March I turned 48 and realized my body is not as young as it used to be. March was colder than usual with scattered snow showers and high winds. This was my biggest training month with 40,200 yards of swimming, 155 miles of running and 670 miles of biking. The good news in March was that I came in 2nd place at Norcal in Redding for the 3 mile run [Read the Rest…]
February was the third month in my Ironman training plan. This is the month of mind body connection. When I first begin to train, the challenge of month one is to get back into the routine of working out 11 times a week and struggling to build fitness. The easy part is to sign up for the race, create a training plan, get excited about beginning again, and completing relatively short [Read the Rest…]
January went by fast. I hope everyone is keeping their New Year’s resolutions! For me, I hit every training session: swimming 24,500 yards, biking 552 miles and running 115 miles. I am also on target with weight loss, losing 8 pounds in January. Although, the weight always comes off so much slower than it goes on! Ironman Texas is roughly 15 weeks away. It seems long, but in training time [Read the Rest…]
Well 2014 was quite a ride – ups and downs – but all in all a very good year. My 2014 triathlon training totals were: Swimming, 255,774 yards (in my SwimEx); Bike, 5,414 miles; and Run, 1,279 miles. That translates into 108 hours of swimming, 297 hours of biking and 194 hours of running for a total of 330,000 calories burned or close to 100 pounds. It really looks quite [Read the Rest…]
October presented me with a few bumps in the road. It was an adjustment going from working out 25 hours a week to no real training. I also had to recover from the nagging muscle issues that go along with 12 months of hard training. Work for me is always extra busy in the fall, plus I began taking 13.5 graduate school credits to get my Tier 2 School Administrator [Read the Rest…]
Ironman Lake Tahoe…For those who have been following my journey this year, you know it has been a tough year, and that I trained hard to be able to complete two Ironman competitions this year. The first Ironman took a lot of heart and perseverance. It then took a lot to recover and rebuild in a short period of time for Ironman Lake Tahoe. But, I was confident that I [Read the Rest…]

Madison, WI – This home owner needed a pool to assist with physical therapy. The skylights were used to help increase the amount of sunlight and heat, especially with the long Wisconsin winters. The customer really enjoys the deep well and quiet motor. The subterranean addition also includes an added bathroom with a shower. The bathroom includes a glass block wall, pedestal sink, and beautiful wood flooring. The addition [Read the Rest…]

Thanks again to those checking in to follow my progress. March has come and gone so quickly. It has been a challenging month in many ways. We continue to get snow and rain in my part of the country which sometimes requires a little extra motivation to go out on those long wet runs. Work has been particularly challenging and there have been way too many birthdays, including mine (47), [Read the Rest…]
Hi again. Welcome to anyone following my progress. Although February was a short month I was able to get in some solid training with 23,900 yards of swimming, 113 miles of running and 428 miles of biking. Stay tuned for next month’s journal! “Yes I continue to use the SwimEx for training for Ironmans. So far I have swum roughly 1,427,650 yards which [Read the Rest…]
One of our favorite exercise tools for ultra fitness is the Aqua Bike! The Aqua Bike features five levels of resistance with a light-weight stainless steel design, adjustable seat and handlebars that enables both aerobic and muscle conditioning in a stress-free aquatic environment. Steve Harvey recently used one on his show for a serious workout!
