Luxury Swim Spa Owner Eliminates Chlorine and Bromine

Frank purchased his SwimEx 500 OS back in 2010. He was 65 then and knew how essential it is to stay healthy and active.

We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Frank, now a young 75. We chatted about his experience with SwimEx, how he uses and maintains his luxury swim spa, and especially how he has eliminated the need for chlorine or bromine in his pool.

Q: Why did you choose a SwimEx pool?

A: Before purchasing my SwimEx, I considered other options, including Endless Pools and Master Spa Michael Phelps. I didn’t like the fact that you have to replace the hydraulic motor every five years for the Endless pool. I tried swimming in a Master Spa Michael Phelps model but didn’t enjoy the experience. It was very turbulent, I felt like I was in a washing machine.

A good friend of mine works at a large tech company with two SwimEx pools. He said they love the pools, especially the low maintenance, so I contacted SwimEx. It was great advice.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about maintaining your luxury swim spa?

A: Maintaining the pool has been remarkably easy. I take care of everything myself. I’m color-blind, so the included ColorQ Pro test kit is perfect for me. Whenever I encounter wonky readings, I simply change the batteries, and all is good again. I don’t have to guess what chemicals to add. This kit has been a lifesaver and makes maintenance a breeze. I keep the calcium in the 200-400 ppm range, which works well for me.

Acid Magic has been my go-to for cleaning the walls. My water source contains a significant amount of iron, so I run the water through filters before refilling the pool after cleaning.

Q: You’ve eliminated the need for chlorine or bromine in your pool. How have you done that?

A: Yes, I’ve become quite the expert on water chemistry! I have the Ozonator and also use Nature 2 Spa Sticks. These spa sticks are fantastic, I just put them in the pump basket and change them every 4 to 6 months. I also add GLB OxyBrite once a week. It’s a great non-chlorine shock oxidizer that gets rid of any contaminants.

All of these products work together to keep my pool water clean and pure. For anyone facing water chemistry challenges, I strongly recommend considering these solutions!

Q: What’s the best part of owning a SwimEx pool?

A: I tell everyone that my pool is my fountain of youth. I give SwimEx full credit for keeping me in such good health. I keep the water at a nice temperature of 86 degrees, and the warm water eases any sore or stiff muscles.

Working with everyone on the team has been a pleasure. Customer service is outstanding, and they always make me feel like I’m their only customer. I highly recommend SwimEx.
